Politburo member and Permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu and Vice President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and Chairman of Standing Board of the CPP Central Committee Say Chhum witnessed the exchange of cooperation documents between the two countries' localities in Phnom Penh on April 10.

At its first session on April 8, the 16th National Assembly adopted a resolution approving the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint six Deputy Prime Ministers for the 2026-2031 term.

In 2025 alone, more than 22,000 inmates were granted early release, while political security and social order remained firmly maintained. Most beneficiaries have successfully reintegrated into society, earning public support and international recognition.

The 16th National Assembly is scheduled to hear proposals and verification reports on the draft revised Law on Civil Status, the draft Laws on amendments and supplementations to the Law on Notarisation and the Law on Legal Aid; and the draft amended Law on Access to Information on April 9.

At its first session, the 16th National Assembly adopted a resolution electing Le Minh Hung, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, as Prime Minister of Vietnam. The National Assembly voted to approve the resolutions on the appointments of Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, and other members of the Government for the 2026-2031 term.

On behalf of the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man on April 6 signed Resolution No. -NQ/UBTVQH16 approving the election of the head of the Ninh Binh provincial delegation of National Assembly deputies.

At the session, 495 out of 495 lawmakers voted in favour of the resolution approving his appointment. The resolution affirms that Le Minh Hung, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, and a deputy to the 16th NA, will serve as Prime Minister for the 2026-2031 term.

Presenting a draft resolution on the election of the State President, NA General Secretary and Chairman of the NA Office Le Quang Manh stated that, based on the Constitution, relevant legal provisions and the official vote-counting record, the legislature resolved to elect Party General Secretary To Lam as State President.

A central focus will be decisions on the organisational structure and the election and approval of high-ranking personnel within the state apparatus - matters of critical importance to the effectiveness of governance throughout the term.

Today, the 16th National Assembly (NA) of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam convenes its first session a session of particularly important significance, marking the beginning of a new term for the highest representative body of the People and the highest State authority of our country.

Ministries, agencies and local authorities were urged to stick firmly to the growth target of at least 10% while maintaining macroeconomic stability, keeping inflation under control and ensuring major economic balances to build momentum for the rest of 2026.

The Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee on January 30 issued Resolution No. 07-NQ/TU on the strategy for developing the cultural and tourism industry until 2030, with a vision to 2045. In accordance with Resolution 07-NQ/TU, the strategy aims to develop the cultural and tourism industry of Ninh Binh province into a key economic cluster, shifting from single-sector to multi-sector development, linking innovation with heritage preservation, and building Ninh Binh into a UNESCO-recognised global creative city by 2045.

The programme aims to develop and effectively implement breakthrough mechanisms and policies to recruit, utilise and retain high-caliber international and OV talent. It is expected to strengthen the country’s science and technology capacity, foster a high-quality workforce, enhance innovation capabilities and promote international integration in education and research. The initiative also contributes to Vietnam’s goal of bringing its education system to an advanced regional and global level by 2035.

Vietnam’s forest coverage rate remained stable at 42.03% in 2025, with total forest area estimated at 14,971,553 ha, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE).

The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee convened its 56th session on the afternoon of April 1 at the National Assembly House.

The elections of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026 2031 tenure were truly democratic, lawful, safe, cost-effective, and comprehensively successful, laying a firm foundation for the forthcoming National Assembly term one defined by action, innovation, and development.

The action programme outlines specific targets, tasks, schemes and projects. In 2026, the entire army is tasked with implementing 82 missions, projects and programmes. To date, 50 have been launched, including 17 completed and 33 underway on schedule, while the remaining 32 will continue to be carried out this year.
