    Viet Nam strike gold across sports at 33rd SEA Games

    December 17 marked one of Viet Nam’s most successful days at the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, with the country's athletes claiming gold medals in several of their traditional strengths, including rowing, shooting, and pencak silat, boosting Viet Nam's position in the overall medal standings.

    The trio of Nguyen Thuy Trang, Trinh Thu Vinh and Trieu Thi Hoa Hong delivered an impressive performance in the women’s 10m air pistol team event on December 14. Competing with consistency and precision, the Vietnamese shooters amassed a total of 1,711 points to win the gold medal and shatter the SEA Games record.

    This year’s festival featured a variety of traditional Vietnamese and Japanese rituals and artistic activities, including sutra chanting at the Tam The Hall of Tam Chuc pagoda, Xam folk singing, flower-offering and Buddha recitation ceremonies (Pure Land Buddhism), sutra writing (Japanese Buddhist tradition), a lantern night, morning meditation sessions, and a Buddha offering ceremony at Ba Sao Pagoda.

    Vietnam will host the Asian Esports Championships (ECA 2025) for the first time from November 19 22 in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, marking a milestone in the country’s growing presence on the global esports stage, the Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sports Association (VIRESA) has announced.
