2024 marked a robust growth of the local tourism sector. The province welcomed 8.7 million tourist arrivals, surpassing the yearly plan by 16% and up 30% compared to the figure of 2023. Of the total, the number of international travellers reached 1.5 million - the highest-ever figure.
The province’s tourism sector earned more 9.1 trillion VND (380 million USD), representing a year-on-year increase of 40.15%.
Revenue from accommodation services was 826 billion VND, up 25.31%; from restaurants was nearly 4.57 trillion VND, up 38.61%; from transport services was 1.13 trillion VND, up 29.74%; souvenir sales was 941 billion VND, a 1.7-fold rise while other services was more than 1.83 trillion VND, a 1.6-fold increase.
Ninh Binh has become a bright spot in the national and international tourism maps. It has been named among top leading destinations in Vietnam and been highly evaluated by domestic and world organisations. Ninh Binh was named on the list of 10 most attractive experiences in 2024; entered the top 10 friendliest destinations in the world and placed fourth in the “Top 10 Crowd-Free New Wonders of the World”. Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex has been honored with the "Impactful destination" award at the Kotler Awards 2024.
In 2024, the province stepped up tourism promotion work, particularly on digital platforms. These have helped lure more tourists, especially those from key markets such as the EU, North America, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Taiwan.
In addition, numerous sports and cultural events were held and provided chances for holidaymakers to enjoy and experience local culture.
In an attempt to realise the goal of turning tourism into a spearhead economic sector, the tourism sector will continue to invest and upgrade technical infrastructure and conditions to serve tourists.
It will pay special attention to developing Ninh Binh into a four-season destination with typical tourism products such as sightseeing, resort entertainment, sports and MICE.
Ninh Binh will pay due heed to building new tourism products that own unique characteristics of Hoa Lu ancient capital and Trang An heritage; and developing souvenirs associated with local identities.
It will step up tourism promotion in potential markets, namely Japan, the RoK, China, Taiwan, the EU and India.
Besides, the sector will continue to popularize Ninh Binh tourism through its brand of “Ninh Binh - Tuyet sac mien co do” (A perfect beauty of ancient capital) and build tourism brand through qualified, professional and civilized services.
