Tran Thuong Temple Rice Distribution Ceremony opens

The festival was attended by former Vice state President, Nguyen Thi Doan, who is also President of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Learning.

Provincial leaders, local authorities also attended the event.

Tran Thuong Temple Rice Distribution Ceremony is one of the country's major festivals, held on the 14th day of the first lunar month in Tran Thuong commune.

The festival is held to commemorate the great contributions of the national hero, General Tran Quoc Tuan, who defeated the Mongol invaders in the 13th century.

The festival takes place at the main temple, which was chosen by General Tran Quoc Tuan as a granary to supply provisions to the army during the resistance against the Mongol invaders.

Organisation have prepared 17,000 package of rice to distribute to local people and visitors 11pm on the 14th day till the 20th day of the first lunar month.

This is a meaningful occasion for people to remember the contributions of the national hero and to pray for a bountiful harvest and national peace and prosperity.
