The Ethnic Groups' Cultural and Sports Festival opened at Cuc Phuong commune’s stadium on April 17 evening.

The festival was organised by the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cuc Phuong commune, Ninh Binh province, from April 17 to 19.
In his opening remarks, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cuc Phuong commune Pham Manh Hung stated that Cuc Phuong is a highland commune located in the western part of Ninh Binh province. It is home to 16 ethnic groups, the majority of whom are Muong people.

Cuc Phuong is known as an ancient land, enriched by layers of cultural sediments and possessing many tangible and intangible cultural heritages such as Mo Muong ritual, New Rice Festival, Khai Ha Festival, folk singing, gong performances, and folk games of the Muong ethnic group.
In particular, two intangible cultural heritages, the Mo Muong ritual and the New Rice Festival of the Muong people, have been included in the national list of intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The annual Ethnic Culture and Sports Festival has been held here for many years, becoming an important highlight in the cultural and spiritual life of the people and a unique cultural brand, rich in identity.
During the festival, people and tourists can participate in many activities such as enjoying unique folk art performances; gong dances; sports competitions and traditional folk games of ethnic minorities; enjoy unique culinary culture; visit the "Trade Fair" with booths displaying and introducing products that are typical economic achievements, OCOP products, and distinctive handicraft products of the localities./.
