A representative of the hospital confirmed this information on July 1, stating that final preparations regarding personnel and medical equipment are currently being completed.
In the initial phase, the hospital will operate 300 inpatient beds, with plans to gradually expand capacity to 1,000 beds in line with actual demand.
Associate Professor Dr Duong Duc Hung, Director of Viet Duc University Hospital, said the phased approach is designed to optimise resources and improve operational efficiency.
During the first stage, the hospital will prioritise high-demand specialties, including orthopedic trauma, spinal surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, and emergency surgical care. This will enable local residents to access highly specialized treatment more quickly while reducing the need for referrals to hospitals in Hanoi.
Regarding staffing, the hospital will follow the standards for a top-tier special-class medical institution, maintaining a ratio of 1.2 to 1.5 physicians per hospital bed. Approximately 400 doctors are expected to rotate through the Ninh Binh campus. To ensure a sustainable workforce, the hospital has recruited and provided advanced training to more than 60 young physicians over the past five years, equipping them to perform complex surgical procedures.
Under the Government’s Resolution No. 32/2026, healthcare professionals working at the Ninh Binh campus will receive an attraction allowance of up to 15.6 million VND per month, in addition to housing and transportation support.
Hospital leaders emphasised that the Ninh Binh campus is an integral part of Viet Duc University Hospital's unified organisational structure, rather than an independent institution. All assets, human resources, and financial operations will be managed through an integrated digital system to ensure transparency and consistency.
Construction of the Ninh Binh campus began in 2015, with a total investment of approximately 5 trillion VND and a planned capacity of 1,000 beds. After years of delays, the project is now being put into operation following the Government's efforts to resolve long-standing obstacles and accelerate its implementation.
The opening follows the recent launch of Bach Mai Hospital's second campus, which began providing medical services on June 26. The presence of Vietnam's two leading central hospitals in Ninh Binh is expected to establish a high-quality healthcare hub, significantly easing patient overload in Hanoi while providing local residents with access to high-quality medical care./.
