Stepping up digital transformation in agricultural production
Ninh Binh boasts advantages in agricultural production with numerous products such as rice, vegetables, aquatic products, and livestock products.
In recent years, local people have applied digital technologies in agricultural production such as using rice cultivating machines, automatic irrigation systems and drones.
Moreover, local farmers have applied digital platforms to sell and manage their farm produce.
A typical example is the aquaculture model of Mr. Bui Duc Thinh's family in Hoang Quyen village, Gia Hoa commune (Gia Vien district), using electrical equipment to create oxygen and a hand-operated fish feeding machine.
Xich Tho Honey Cooperative in Nho Quan district has invested in a water separator and a water lowering machine in honey production. The machine is used to extract and remove impurities in honey, helping to increase the value of the product. The introduction of advanced machinery to replace traditional manual equipment has created natural, high-quality honey products. In concentrated growing areas, many households and cooperatives also use QR codes and traceability stamps to increase the value of agricultural products.

In addition to applying technology to production, many units also promote trade promotion and product consumption on digital platforms. It is common to sell agricultural products on social networks such as Facebook, Zalo, and Tik Tok.
According to Nguyen Van Nam, Director of the Xich Tho Honey Cooperative, in addition to traditional sales, the cooperative has also sold products online effectively on TikTok, Zalo, and Facebook. Each year, the cooperative sells over 10 tonnes of honey, of which about 60-70% is through online sales channels. In 2025, with the support of local authorities, the cooperative is developing honey products that meet OCOP standards.
Thanks to changes in mindset and application of advanced technologies, various agricultural production models have been built and created jobs for local people, thus contributing to restructuring the agriculture sector and building smart new-style rural areas.
Striving to build modern and sustainable agriculture
Implementing the provincial People’s Committee’s Plan No. 150/KH-UBND dated September 24, 2021 on supporting households to bring agricultural products to e-commerce flatforms, spuring the development of digital economy in rural areas, local departments, sectors, branches and localities have paid due attention to promoting trade for local OCOP products and deploying cashless payments.
In 2024, 1,085 OCOP products were sold on Postmart.vn. with 22,877 items successfully traded for 3.62 billion VND.
At present, the province has 244 digital firms who provide telecoms and information technology services. The rate of enterprises paying e-tax reaches 99% while more than 50% use e-contracts.
With abundant potential and the determination to develop digital economy in agriculture and rural areas, Ninh Binh is likely to obtain outstanding achievements in digital transformation and build a smart, effective and sustainable agriculture.
