Amid the complicated and unpredictable developments of storm No. 5, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Truong Quoc Huy and a working delegation on August 25 afternoon inspected and directed the preparedness in Dong Hoa Lu ward, Quang Thien commune and Kim Dong commune.

Huy, who is also Head of the provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies, inspected key areas, including a dike section along Day river and Cong Cai pumping station in Dong Hoa Lu ward; Lac Thien 1 culvert in Quang Thien commune; and Binh Minh 3, 4 dikes in Kim Dong commune.
Through inspection and listening to reports from relevant sectors and localities, Huy requested sectors and localities to seriously, fully and effectively implement the directive of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, the Official Dispatch of the Prime Minister, the directives of ministries and sectors, and the province authorities to ensure the safety of life and property of the People, the State and enterprises in the area.

He asked the provincial Civil Defense Command, departments, sectors, competent sectors, localities and units to proactively strengthen direction, urge, inspect, and regularly monitor information and developments of storms, rains and floods to develop appropriate response plans according to the four-on-the-spot motto; absolutely do not let passive or unexpected situations occur, especially focusing on the work of preventing and combating flooding and floods, ensuring the safety of dikes on the river system; promptly overcome and minimise damage and consequences caused by storms, rains and floods.
The official demanded the units and localities to organise a permanent force to patrol, inspect, promptly detect and promptly handle incidents during the rainy and flood season.
He also suggested that after storm No. 5, it is necessary to review and re-evaluate the entire status of dikes, pumping stations, and drainage culverts to have a planning plan as well as synchronous investment to ensure safety during the rainy and stormy season, to prevent flooding in industrial parks, clusters, and residential areas, and to serve the socio-economic development tasks of the locality well./.
