Construction of Ninh Binh-Hai Phong expressway project accelerated
According to the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, by early April 2026, land clearance for the project had reached over 99%, equivalent to almost the entire length of the route passing through the province. This is considered a decisive step in the construction progress.
In addition, the system of 10 resettlement areas has been completed and handed over, creating conditions for people to stabilise their lives and helping the project avoid prolonged delays. The relocation of technical infrastructure such as electricity, water, and telecommunications is also being implemented simultaneously, ensuring no disruption to the construction process.
On the construction site, the working atmosphere is bustling with many parallel work teams. The construction of the roadbed is progressing well, with most of the excavation and embankment work completed on over 22km of the route.
Notably, all 12 bridges along the route have begun construction simultaneously. These are complex technical items requiring significant time and resources.
At some key projects, progress is showing positive signs. Mai Son bridge is gradually completing its important components, while Khanh Thuong bridge has completed all the bored piles one of the most important foundation items.
According to the Project Management Board, the total construction volume currently stands at less than 40% of the contract value. Although much work remains to be done, at the current pace, the goal of completion by the end of 2026 is considered feasible, and may even be shortened if favorable conditions continue.
One of the key factors helping the project accelerate is the mobilisation of significant resources. Along the entire route, there are approximately 500 machines and equipment, along with nearly 1,000 workers working continuously. Construction teams are organised into three shifts per day, extending until late at night to maximise time and weather conditions.
The work ethic of the workforce is also a noteworthy highlight. At the construction site, many teams have maintained a high intensity of work, with consensus and determination to complete the project on schedule. However, alongside the speed of work, requirements for occupational safety, construction quality, and environmental protection remain top priorities.
The Ninh Binh Hai Phong expressway project commenced in April 2025, with a total investment of nearly 6.9 trillion VND, a length of over 25km, and a design speed of 120km/h. This is a strategically important route, directly connecting the inland areas with Hai Phong seaport a major logistics centre in the North.
Upon completion, the expressway will significantly shorten travel time between provinces in the region, while opening up a new transport corridor for goods. This will not only help reduce logistics costs but also create favourable conditions for attracting investment and developing industry and services.
Furthermore, the route will also connect with other major transportation arteries, forming a synchronized infrastructure network throughout the region. This is the foundation for promoting regional connectivity a key factor for sustainable growth in the Red River Delta region.
With the achievements to date, along with the decisive leadership of the local authorities and the efforts of the construction units, the project is gradually realising its goal of completion in 2026. When the expressway is completed, it will not only change the infrastructure landscape of the region but also usher in a new phase of development for the entire northern economic region./.
