Ngoc briefed the FAO delegation on the province’s socio-economic situation and potential.
He noted that over the past years, Ninh Binh has been consistent with a viewpoint and direction of economic development in a green, sustainable and harmonious manner. The province considers tourism, cultural and entertainment industries as spearhead economic sectors; and takes scientific-technology advances, innovations and digital transformation as breakthroughs and multi–value agriculture as a pillar.
The province has paid due attention to developing and exploiting localities’ specialties in a bid to increase values for farm produce in association with environmental protection and building new-style rural areas, thus bringing a better life to local people, he said.
The province’s agriculture sector has spurred the growth of other economic and service industries, Ngoc added.
Qu, for his part, put forth some solutions for Ninh Binh’s agriculture to develop sustainably by exploiting its agricultural potential and advantages.
To develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector, Ninh Binh needs to improve infrastructure, build new tourism products, and produce new agricultural products with high nutrition value, he suggested.
As for the agriculture sector, the province needs to invest into machinery and workforce to meet the higher requirements of farm produce, the FAO Director-General said.
In addition, Ninh Binh should cooperate with new markets such as African countries in a bid to ensure both food security for the province and long-term interests.
While showing his agreement with Ninh Binh’s development orientations, Qu promised to enhance agricultural cooperation between FAO and Vietnam, including Ninh Binh.
FAO is ready to support and coordinate with Ninh Binh to realise the province’s goals and aspirations in agricultural development, the official added.
