The recognition of the Xuan Thuy National Park - the first Ramsar site of Vietnam as ASEAN Heritage Park demonstrates its ecological values and biodiversity as well as strong commitment of Vietnam in protecting nature under international and regional standards.
Spanning over the communes of Giao Minh, Giao Hoa and Giao Phuc, the Xuan Thuy National Park covers a total area of 7,000 hectares, comprising sand dunes, alluvial grounds, and is the first Ramsar site of Vietnam. It has a rich mangrove forest ecosystem and is home to many rare migratory bird species.
The park has developed eco-tourism products such as boat tours, bird watching tours and agriculture tourism, attracting tourists to experience and discover nature and culture of the Red River Delta.
The award contributes to preserving and promoting the value of the coastal areas of the Red River Delta, and provides a chance for boosting eco-tourism and sustainable economic development associated with environmental protection in Ninh Binh and the northern plain./.
