According to the General Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance, favorable visa policies, promoted tourism promotion programs, and activities to celebrate major national holidays have attracted an increasing number of international visitors to Viet Nam.
The Department's report for the first 6 months of 2025 stated that in June 2025, international arrivals to our country reached 1.46 million, down 4.3% compared to the previous month and up 17.1% compared to the same period in 2024. In the first 6 months of 2025, international arrivals to Vietnam reached nearly 10.7 million, up 20.7% over the same period in 2024.
Of which, arrivals by air reached 9.1 million, accounting for 85.2% of international arrivals and up 22.7% over the same period in 2024; by road reached 1.4 million, accounting for 13.1% and up 10.9%; by sea reached 181.4 thousand, accounting for 1.7% and up 10%.
The number of Vietnamese people leaving the country in the second quarter of 2025 was 1,379.5 thousand, down 2.3% compared to the same period in 2024. However, in the first 6 months of 2025, the number of Vietnamese people leaving the country reached 4,062.8 thousand, up 53.9% compared to the same period in 2024.
Meanwhile, according to businesses, the tourism industry can completely reach the target of about 22 million visitors when entering the peak tourist season from around September to December.
China continues to be the largest market sending visitors to Vietnam in the first half of 2025 with 2.7 million (accounting for 25.6%). Repulic of Korea ranked second, reaching 2.2 million (accounting for 20.7%). These two markets alone contributed 46.3% of the total number of international visitors in the past 6 months. In the group of 10 largest markets for Vietnamese tourism today are China, the US, Japan, India, Australia, Malaysia, Russia, Taiwan (China) and Republic of Korea.
Previously, at the first Government Conference with localities after implementing the two-tier local government model on July 3, the Prime Minister assessed tourism as one of the 10 outstanding bright spots in the first 6 months of 2025.
Many international organizations also commented that Vietnamese tourism is a bright spot with the highest growth rate of international tourists in the Asia-Pacific region, becoming an attractive destination in the region and the world.
