Ninh Binh takes measures to strengthen management and conservation of wild and migratory birds

The Ninh Binh provincial People's Committee has issued a directive on strengthening the management and conservation of wild and migratory birds in the province.
Competent agencies detect and handle acts of hunting wild birds in the Nam Hoa Lu ward.
This move is part of the province's efforts to implement the Party and State's policies and regulations on the management, protection and development of wild animals as well as Directive No. 04/CT-TTg dated May 17, 2022 of the Prime Minister on urgent tasks and solutions to protect wild and migratory birds.
Accordingly, the People's Committee of Ninh Binh province assigns the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate with relevant departments, branches, sectors, units, localities, and media agencies to strengthen communication work, raise awareness of compliance with the law on biodiversity conservation, and protect endangered, precious and rare species that are prioritised for protection; and develop wild animals.
The department will direct the forest ranger force to coordinate with local authorities and relevant agencies in the area to strengthen patrols, control, prevent, detect and strictly handle acts of hunting, killing, raising, confining, transporting, trading, processing, storing and consuming illegal wild and migratory birds, especially during the migratory bird season (from September of the previous year to April of the following year).
The provincial Department of Public Security and the provincial Military Command are assigned to grasp the situation, closely coordinate with relevant functional forces to organise patrols and controls to detect, arrest and strictly handle acts of hunting, killing, raising, confining, transporting, trading, processing, storing and consuming illegal wild and migratory birds.
Forest ranges release wild birds back to nature.
Educational institutions should strengthen the implementation of education and communication on environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and wild and migratory bird conservation for students and trainees, as well as raise awareness of protecting wild and migratory birds for students.
The People's Committee of Ninh Binh province requests the Department of Tourism to strengthen management during the organisation of tourism events that may affect the habitat of wild and migratory birds in the province.
The Department of Tourism is requested to step up communications and guidance for tourists and tourism businesses on the role and significance of biodiversity, wild and migratory birds for the environment and tourism activities.
It will encourage accommodation establishments, restaurants, and tourist areas to sign a commitment not to consume or promote products originating from wild animals, while promoting positive communication about a nature-friendly lifestyle and responsible tourism.
The People's Committees of communes and wards direct specialised agencies, units, and functional agencies to organise the management, protection, and sustainable development of existing wild and migratory bird areas in the area.
Every year, they should coordinate with functional agencies to review potential locations for migratory and wild birds in the area, and encourage people to participate in protecting and improving the landscape environment to attractwild and migratory birds.
