The 2026 New Year holiday lasts for four consecutive days, creating favorable conditions for tourists to visit and relax. Capitalising on this trend, Ninh Binh province is ready to welcome tourists with a diverse and attractive range of tourism products and events.
Special programme to welcome New year at Hoa Lu Old Quarter.
Diverse itineraries
As tourism has increasingly been focusing on experiences, personalisation, and sustainable values, Ninh Binh is asserting its position as a diverse and attractive destination with well-designed, emotionally rich itineraries that harmoniously combine nature, culture, and contemporary life.
For tourists who love nature and tranquility, Cuc Phuong National Park is an unmissable destination for this year's New Year holiday. Unlike the bustling atmosphere of the city, Cuc Phuong chooses a unique way to celebrate the New Year: peaceful, profound, and rich in experiences, where every activity is geared towards the message of green living and living responsibly towards nature.
A special highlight in the Cuc Phuong National Park's New Year tourism products is the "Sowing Green Seeds, Starting the New Year Amidst the Great Forest" programme, taking place over two days and one night (December 31, 2025 - January 1, 2026).
"Sowing Green Seeds, Starting the New Year Amidst the Great Forest" programme, taking place over two days and one night (December 31, 2025 - January 1, 2026) at cuc Phuong National Park.
According to Do Hong Hai, Deputy Director of the Centre for Environmental Education and Services (Cuc Phuong National Park), the programme is designed for various groups: families, friends, young people, and anyone wishing for a gentle yet meaningful start to the year. Participating in the programme, visitors will get to countdown to the New Year in the forest, with traditional folk performances, bamboo pole dancing, and a warm campfire.
Visitors can also participate in an electric vehicle tour to explore the forest at night, experiencing the pristine feeling of the old-growth forest and observing wildlife in its natural environment an activity that is both attractive and highly educational.
On the first morning of the New Year, the "Green Steps" running programme, with its tree-planting activities and sowing seeds for the future, is expected to bring a positive spirit and spread the message of healthy and green living.
While the Cuc Phuong National Park offers the tranquil green of nature, Hoa Lu Ancient Town is a suitable destination for tourists who love vibrancy and modernity while still retaining its heritage.
Giang Khanh Linh, Head of Communications at Hoa Lu Ancient Town, said that visiting Hoa Lu Ancient Town this time, tourists will be able to participate in unique programmes such as: the "Hero of the Reed Flag" live circus, "Unicorn Poetry" with performances of traditional Vietnamese opera, folk music, and orchestral music. The highlight is the PHOCO COUNTDOWN 2026 programme, a large-scale New Year music event featuring famous singers, a light mapping display, and spectacular fireworks.
The number of visitors to Hoa Lu Ancient Town is expected to increase by about 20-30% during the New Year holiday compared to normal days, concentrated during the festival activities. Organising a countdown in the heritage area not only meets the entertainment needs of tourists, especially young people, but also opens up a new approach to exploiting cultural values, bringing heritage closer to contemporary life.
With its advantages in natural landscapes, culture, history, and proximity to Hanoi, Ninh Binh is becoming a popular destination for many tourists, especially for short trips.
During the New Year holiday, local tourist areas and attractions have planned to welcome visitors, beautify the landscape, and improve the quality of services to better serve tourists.
During this period, many localities and tourist destinations throughout the province are also holding cultural and artistic exchange activities to celebrate the Party, the Spring Festival, and the New Year, such as cultural exchange activities and fireworks displays at 3-2 Square in Nam Dinh ward; and a grand music festival and fireworks display at the festival axis square of Sun Urban City.
Ensuring safety of tourists
In parallel with renewing products and improving the quality of experiences, Ninh Binh's tourism industry has paid special attention to ensuring the security and safety of tourists.
From early on, tourist areas and attractions proactively developed plans to serve the peak Tet holiday season, reviewing human resources, facilities, technical infrastructure, electricity and water systems, and fire prevention and control.
Do Hong Hai, Deputy Director of the Centre for Environmental Education and Services of the Cuc Phuong National Park, said: “During the New Year holiday, the number of visitors to the park is expected to increase by about 30-50%. The centre strives to safely welcome and serve 100% of visitors, preventing accidents and incidents involving people and property, avoiding traffic congestion lasting more than 20 minutes, and strictly controlling waste to protect the environment.”
In addition, the electrical system, signposts, danger warnings, and visitor regulations have been reviewed, supplemented, and fully installed. Forest fire prevention and control is placed at the highest level, with a force on duty round the clock, ensuring readiness to respond promptly when situations arise.
Leaders of the provincial Department of Tourism have requested units, tourist areas, and attractions to prepare conditions for welcoming visitors safely and thoughtfully, ensuring security and order, traffic safety, and fire prevention, especially at events with large crowds.
Staffs of Thung Nham ecological site are provided training courrses.
The department has regularly inspected and reviewed tourist areas and attractions, requiring them to strictly comply with regulations on pricing, price listing, service quality control, environmental hygiene, and food safety.
With proactive and systematic preparations, from product development and event organisation to ensuring security, safety, and improving service quality, Ninh Binh is demonstrating its determination to create an image of a "safe, friendly, and experience-rich" destination for the 2026 New Year holiday. A diverse range of activities and revamped tourist spaces promise to provide visitors with fulfilling and memorable holidays in the early days of the New Year./.
