At the opening ceremony, locals and visitors were treated to a spectacular display: a map of Vietnam made from over 1,000 conical hats, alongside an impressive cavalry performance.

Musical performances and festive drumming added to the jubilant atmosphere, delighting guests on the first day of the April 30 – May 1 holiday.
Following the opening, a series of rich cultural activities characteristic of the ancient capital will continue through to May 3.

On the evening of 30 April, a large-scale traditional costume show entitled “Silken Splendour of Hoa Lu” will take centre stage with the participation of researchers and skilled artisans. The show will re-enact Vietnam’s heroic history through traditional garments representing different dynasties.
Next, the immersive outdoor performance entitled “Dancing Colours of Hoa Lu” will be staged on 1 and 2 May at the Tam Coc boat pier. This show takes audiences on a journey through Ninh Binh’s traditional craft villages, where handicrafts are not only a means of livelihood but also a living expression of cultural heritage and the soul of local people.
On the evening of May 3, a minishow will be held on a floating stage on the Tam Coc River, featuring renowned artists such as Vu Cat Tuong, Bui Cong Nam, and Phuong Phuong Thao.
In addition to cultural and artistic activities, the festival also includes a community running event entitled “Run to the Village”, which will take place on May 1 and 2 along the heritage route within the Tam Coc – Bich Dong tourist area. The event offers participants the chance to immerse themselves in the rhythms of northern Vietnamese rural life.
