Viet Nam, China step up cultural and tourism cooperation

A cultural and tourism promotion programme themed “World Heritage Tourism: A Cup of Coffee with Views of Yunnan and Viet Nam: Sharing the Same Rhythm in Ninh Binh” was held at the Trang An Landscape Complex in northern Ninh Binh Province on September 20.

The event was jointly organised by the Publicity Department of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, the South and Southeast Asia International Communication Centre of Yunnan Province, and the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Director General of the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism Phan Linh Chi said Viet Nam and China are neighbouring countries with long-standing cultural and traditional ties. Tourism is a practical area of cooperation that can foster mutual understanding and friendship while creating development opportunities for localities and businesses in both countries.
She said the programme, held as part of the 2026-2027 Viet Nam-China Year of Tourism Cooperation, would help strengthen links among destinations, travel companies, service providers and media organisations, turning cultural exchanges into practical tourism initiatives.

Peng Bin, Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee said cooperation between Yunnan’s and Viet Nam’s coffee industries had shifted from “meeting” to “joint development” over the past year.
Yunnan is China’s largest coffee-producing province, with a coffee-growing history spanning more than a century, while Viet Nam is one of the world’s major coffee producers, with coffee culture deeply embedded in daily life.He proposed combining coffee and world heritage sites in cultural tourism, developing cross-border themed tours and encouraging coffee farms to establish partnerships with world heritage destinations.
