Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Song Tung on July 17 had a working session with a delegation from the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation led by Secretary of State Ung Rachana.
At the receiption.
Tung underlined the traditional relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia and thanked the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for coordination with and support for Ninh Binh province to promote cooperation in many fields over the past time.
The Vice Chairman briefed the Cambodian delegation on the province’s socio-economic situation. New Ninh Binh province has been formed based on the mergence of Ninh Binh, Ha Nam and Nam Dinh provinces with a total natural area of nearly 4,000 sq.km and a population of 4.4 million.
Ninh Binh is one of the country’s four leading automobile assembly and manufacturing hubs and it is focusing on developing hi-tech industries, green and circular economy, he said.
Tung noted that the province’s tourism sector is developing fruitfully. In 2025, Ninh Binh expects to welcome 17 million tourist arrivals, including 2.5 million international visitors. It has been named among the world’s top friendliest destinations by famous magazines and travel organisations.
Since the province has persistently followed the policy of green, sustainable and harmonious development, Ninh Binh wants to step up cooperation with Cambodian localities in the coming time, especially in the fields of culture, education and tourism, thus tightening close ties between the two countries, Tung added.
For his part, Ung Rachana said he was impressed by Ninh Binh’s socio-economic achievements and proposed the province set up twinned relations with several Cambodian localities to boost cultural, educational and tourism exchanges, thus practically contributing to the development of the localities and the two countries as well.
