Appreciating Vietnam’s active and pioneering engagement in security, political affairs, sustainable development and a just energy transition, Secretary-General Guterres expressed his hope that Vietnam will continue to play a strong role in the world’s transformation, contribute to efforts to address climate change under the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), and promote emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI).

The high-level General Debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81), themed "Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all", officially opened at the UN headquarters in New York, the US, on September 22 (local time).

In his September 19 letter, he extended his warmest wishes and affection to Vietnamese children at home and abroad, as well as foreign children living in Vietnam, expressing his hope that each Mid-Autumn Festival would leave them with beautiful and lasting memories.

The visit demonstrates the importance Vietnam attaches to Australia as a key partner in the Indo-Pacific and the Southeast Asian nation's determination to deepen the new partnership framework in a substantive and effective manner.
