Ninh Binh expands cooperative relations with Canadian cities

In Ottawa, the delegation conducted a field trip and held a working session with the capital city’s authorities.

Welcoming the delegation, Tyler Cox, Manager of Legislative Services, provided an overview of Ottawa’s socio-economic situation and its model of urban governance. He also highlighted the city’s strengths in information and communications technology, wireless technology, photonics, life sciences and clean technology.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Tuat expressed his hope that the two sides would strengthen exchanges and share experience in the organisation and operation of elected bodies, urban governance and public service delivery, as well as heritage conservation associated with green urban development, sustainable tourism and community livelihoods.

Given the similarities in their development orientations toward green, sustainable growth and people-centered governance, Tuat expressed his confidence that relations between Ninh Binh province and the City of Ottawa could gradually be established and developed in a practical manner, in line with the potential and interests of both localities.

The delegation subsequently visited and held a working session with the Embassy of Vietnam in Canada.

At the meeting, Tuat briefed Ambassador Pham Vinh Quang and embassy officials on Ninh Binh province and expressed his hope that the Ambassador and the embassy would continue supporting the province in connecting with Canadian local authorities, specialised agencies, universities, research institutes, associations and businesses with expertise and strengths in urban governance, heritage conservation, climate change adaptation, clean technology, education and training, and sustainable tourism.

He also called for continued cooperation in promoting Ninh Binh’s image, investment environment, culture and tourism in Canada.

In Toronto, the provincial delegation held a working session with the City’s Environment, Climate and Forestry Division.

The two sides engaged in extensive exchanges and shared experience in developing and implementing urban climate strategies, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, energy management, green buildings, low-emission transport, the circular economy, urban forestry and community engagement.

As part of the working program, the delegation also conducted a field study and held a meeting with the Niagara Parks Commission in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

At the meeting, the Ninh Binh delegation and representatives of the Niagara Parks Commission exchanged experience in managing natural landscape complexes; conserving natural resources, heritage and landscapes; organising visitor routes, managing visitor flows and ensuring tourist safety; as well as mobilising revenue for reinvestment in conservation and sustainable tourism development./.
