Currently, the total area of forests and forest land in Ninh Binh is 30,300 hectares, including special use forests, protective forests and forests for production.
The province’s forest ecosystem has been developed into multi-use values in a bid to increase incomes, enhance values of forests, improve the quality of forest resources.
The mountainous district of Nho Quan owns rich potential of forest land with a total area of 17,800 hectares. Over the past years, the district has paid special attention to developing farm economic models that combine agro-forestry forms. Some typical farm models of breeding deer, goats, wild boars and bees in combination with planting herbal plants, orchard trees, and timber have reaped fruits.
Some other localities such as Gia Vien district and Tam Diep city have also planted multi-value trees such as orchard trees and herbal plants in combination with breeding high-value animals in the slope areas. These models have earned an average income of 1.9 billion VND per year.
Apart from developing agro-forestry models, the province has been developing diverse types of eco-tourism in line with forests.
Many companies and cooperatives have take advantage of potential of Cuc Phuong National Park, Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, Van Long Nature Reserve and Hoa Lu forest to develop eco-tourism services.
The plan aims to exploit forest potential for sustainable economic development and at the same time, to manage and protect forest resources effectively, thus contributing to building a green environment in Ninh Binh today and future generations.
