Fifty-one years ago, under the leadership of the Party, our military and people achieved a great victory: at exactly 11:30 a.m. on April 30, 1975, the liberation flag flew atop the Independence Palace, affirming the complete triumph of the will for independence, freedom, and the aspiration for peace and national reunification.
The victory of the General Offensive and Uprising of Spring 1975, with the spirit of “lightning speed, boldness, surprise, and certainty of victory”, culminating in the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, will forever go down in history, affirming the great stature of the Vietnamese people’s resistance war against U.S aggression. It is a shining milestone in the history of the Vietnamese people’s struggle against foreign invaders and the result of national unity and the spirit of “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom” of the entire nation.
That victory is an epic of national will, the strength of great unity, and the art of people’s war in the Ho Chi Minh era, forever recorded in our national history as one of its most glorious chapters, a brilliant symbol of the complete triumph of revolutionary heroism and human intellect. It has entered world history as a great achievement of the 20th century, an event of major international significance and profound contemporary importance. Although 51 years have passed, the spirit of that historic spring remains intact, continuing to illuminate and inspire the entire nation to firmly advance towards building a prosperous and happy country.
Promoting the spirit of the Great Spring Victory of 1975, our country has overcome numerous challenges and achieved great accomplishments of historical significance in the process of renewal. In recent years, despite complex and unpredictable international and regional developments, under the leadership of the Party, the flexible governance of the State, and the unity of the people at home and abroad, Viet Nam has continued to develop steadily. Socio-economic development, culture, science and technology, education, and healthcare have made significant progress; people’s living standards have continuously improved; and the country’s international standing has been increasingly affirmed. It can be affirmed that never before has our country had such fortune, potential, position, and confidence as it does today. These achievements stem from the strength of great national unity, the Party’s sound policies, and social consensus. They represent a worthy continuation of the spirit of April 30, demonstrating the enduring vitality of the Vietnamese nation.

April 30 is not only an occasion to express gratitude for the past but also a reminder to younger generations of the value of peace, unity, and a consistent lesson: the correct leadership of the Party is the decisive factor for victory. This spirit motivates every Vietnamese to promote patriotism, self-reliance, resilience, and aspiration for progress. General Secretary and President To Lam has emphasised the development path in the coming period, with steadfast adherence to the goals of national independence and socialism. This is a historically grounded choice, a consistent thread throughout the Vietnamese revolutionary process. Maintaining the Party’s reform orientation is an objective requirement and a law-governed revolutionary process to continuously promote social progress, liberate productive forces, unlock all resources, expand development space, and enhance the country’s position.
The General Secretary and President also clearly pointed out the need to steadfastly uphold the spirit of reform in the right direction, reform with principles, and reform for national development and the people’s happiness. It is essential to ensure that the outcomes of economic growth are fairly shared, creating a solid foundation for social consensus and sustainable development, for a prosperous and happy life for the people.
