Non Khe village’s “Bao ban” festival recognised as national intangible cultural heritage

The event saw the attendance of Standing Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Mai Van Tuat; and Vice Chairmen of the provincial People’s Committee Tong Quang Thin and Nguyen Cao Son, among others.

Non Khe village’s “Bao ban” Festival has 555-year history of formation and development.  It boasts outstanding cultural values of Non Khe villagers. The festival is held annually to pay tribute predecessors who had contributed to establishing and building the village.

With its outstanding values, the “Bao ban” Festival was recognised as a national intangible cultural heritage by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on December 10, 2024.

At the ceremony, Chairman of provincial people’s council Mai Van Tuat handed over the certificate recognizing Non Khe village’s “Bao ban” Festival as a national intangible cultural heritage to representatives of Non Khe village and Yen Tu commune.

Following the ceremony, the provincial leaders, delegates and local people offered incense in tribute to predecessors and heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the resistance wars to protect the village.

The festival consists of rituals and festive activities. Numerous art performances and traditional folk games are organised during the two-day festival.

In particular, a street night market features special foods has drawn the participation of a large number of local people and visitors.
