According to the Plan on developing ICs in the province by 2025, with orientations towards 2030, Ninh Binh will house 25 ICs with total area of 946 hectares.

In 2018, it attracted 10 projects with total registered capital of nearly 2 trillion VND, bringing the total number of projects in its ICs to170. Turnover of operating projects reached 5.3 trillion VND and 85 billion VND was sent to the State budget.

Also in 2018, the Center for developing ICs under the Department of Trade and Industry appraised 21 projects in the ICs of Dong Huong, Gia Phu, Gia Van, Van Phong, and Cau Yen.

The moves helped the locality use land effectively, restructure economy and create jobs for local people. It took 36 domestic and foreign investors to make fact-finding tours to survey invesment opportunities in the ICs in the province.

Businesses in the ICs have maintained effective operations with positive growth, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.

Enterprises operating in handicraft village ICs contributed to speeding up the growth rate of industrial and handicraft production in the area, helping to develop traditional fine arts and wooden handicrafts, namely Ninh Phong and Ninh Van industrial clusters.

Despite these achievements, there are still shortcomings that need to be addressed such as some ICs in the province have not made environmental impact assessment reports, thus failing to attract investors.

Meanwhile, some ICs have yet paid attention to building synchronized infrastructure with well-developed water supply and drainage and electricity systems, green trees, and lighting system.

In the coming time, the province continues to call for more domestic and foreign investors to survey investment opportunities in the ICs.

Besides, it will strengthen inspection over infrastructure construction of enterprises located inside the ICs. It will pay heed to attract investment into ICs infrastructure.

The authorities will finalize environmental regulations for the ICs, thus guiding businesses to strictly comply with environment regulations in manufacturing activities.
