According to Report No. 325/BC-UBND, issued by the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee on October 1, the flooding caused significant damage to property and infrastructure but resulted in no fatalities.
The disaster nevertheless had a major impact on local residents and agricultural production across the province.
In the housing sector, three houses were completely destroyed, while 6,953 homes were inundated. A total of 53 households had to be evacuated urgently to ensure their safety.
The education sector was also affected, with 12 school sites inundated and forced to temporarily close.
Agricultural production suffered extensive damage, with 2,366 hectares of rice and 1,084 hectares of crops and vegetables affected by the flooding.
The disaster also killed or swept away 24 livestock animals and 4,165 poultry. In addition, approximately 10,000 hectares of areas used for fish, shrimp and other aquatic and marine production were affected.
Transport and irrigation infrastructure also sustained considerable damage. More than 3,300 metres of dykes were affected or damaged, while 173 metres of canals and one pumping station were damaged. In terms of transport infrastructure, 30 meters of national highway, 500 meters of local roads and one culvert were seriously damaged.
A preliminary assessment compiled from local authorities puts the total economic losses caused by the flooding in Ninh Binh at approximately 94.58 billion VND.
As floodwaters recede, authorities and emergency forces across the province are mobilising personnel and equipment to help residents recover from the disaster. Efforts are focused on draining floodwaters, protecting and restoring rice fields, cleaning up affected areas, and quickly stabilizing people's lives and resuming production./.
