Under Decision No. 1140/QD-BXD, signed on July 1, 2026, Vietnam plans to develop a total of 36 airports by 2030, including 19 international airports and 17 domestic airports. Compared with the previous master plan, Ninh Binh has been newly added to the list of international airports.
The 19 international airports planned by 2030 are Cao Bang, Van Don, Cat Bi, Noi Bai, Gia Binh, Ninh Binh, Tho Xuan, Vinh, Phu Bai, Da Nang, Chu Lai, Van Phong, Cam Ranh, Lien Khuong, Long Thanh, Tan Son Nhat, Can Tho, Phu Quoc, and Con Dao.
Looking ahead to 2050, Vietnam aims to expand its airport network to 37 airports, including 20 international airports. In addition to the airports already listed, the revised master plan includes a second airport serving the Hanoi Capital Region.
Alongside the updated airport network, the Ministry of Construction has also incorporated plans to develop air cargo logistics hubs at airports handling annual freight volumes of at least 250,000 tonnes.
Aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities will be prioritised at major airports with well-developed infrastructure and extensive international route networks, including Van Don, Noi Bai, Gia Binh, Chu Lai, Tan Son Nhat, and Long Thanh.
The decision took effect on the date of its signing./.
