Ho Chi Minh city People's Committee has just sent a document to the Ministry of Defense, asking for opinions on the policy of making a profile for Cu Chi Tunnels (Phu My Hung Commune, Cu Chi District) to submit to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for inscription on the World Heritage List.

According to Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Cu Chi Tunnels meet UNESCO's criteria for implementing the World Heritage Convention. Specifically, Cu Chi Tunnels are well-preserved military scientific works, including a system of artificial tunnels in the ground with the structure of 2 to 3 connecting floors, more than 200km long; It was built to be fully functional for humans to live and fight, aand protect against the modern means of warfare of America.
 

Historical relic Cu Chi Tunnels were recognized by the Prime Minister as a special national monument in December 2015, with historical, cultural, scientific, aesthetic and creative values.
