Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc thanked and welcomed Wärtsilä to explore the investment opportunity in Ninh Binh, especially in the field of energy.

Ngoc stressed that Ninh Binh is targeting green and sustainable development based on its historical, cultural and natural conditions. The province has paid special attention to environmental protection.

According to the province's urban planning project, the Ninh Binh thermal power plant will be closed soon, hence provincial authorities welcomed the corporation's coordination with the plant to study solutions to replace the factory in order to ensure energy for the country and the region, he said.

Ngoc also asked Wärtsilä to provide more information about the project, particularly solutions to protect the environment, the construction and operation of the plant, and orientations to develop and supply  sustainable energy in the long-term.

Right after receiving enough information, Ninh Binh authorities will soon discuss and decide to approve or not approve the project, he said.
