In response to the tree-planting festival, Secretary of the Ninh Binh provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Tran Hong Quang, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Dien, cadres and locals in Ninh Binh city were engaged in planting more than 235 trees along the two sides of Le Thai To road, in Tan Thanh district.

The same day, in six other districts and city of the province, local leaders and representatives of provincial departments and agencies also planted hundreds of thousand trees following the launching ceremony.

Last year, Ninh Binh managed to protect nearly 500,000ha of natural and planted forest areas.

The afforestation movement has helped improve locals’ awareness of forest protection in economic development as well as improving the quality of the environment, and bettering local livelihoods amidst global climate change.

Ninh Binh targets to plant 1,300,000 trees, including fruit trees and around 500 hectares of trees for wood in 2019.
