Ninh Binh’s Yen Khanh district recognised as new-style rural area

Yen Khanh district in the northern province of Ninh Binh held a ceremony on January 19 to announce the Prime Minister’s decision recognising it as a new-style rural area.

The event saw the presence of Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh.

After eight years of implementing the new rural area building programme, all communes in Yen Khanh district have been certified as new-style rural areas.Yen Khanh has made significant achievements in all fields.

The economic sector recorded a stable growth rate of 13.5 percent averagely; Industrial production rose 341 times from 1994. All local roads have been upgraded, while the ratio of poor households has been reduced to 2.7 percent.

Yen Khanh has raised money from all sources for the programme with total of 5.1 billion VND, in which local residents contributed 1.2 billion VND, or 25 percent of the total cost.

Addressing the ceremony, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh congratulated the Party Committee, the administration and people of Yen Khanh for the success.

She aske dYen Khanh in particular, Ninh Binh province in general to continue promoting the achievements and make a greater breakthrough in socio-economic growth; contributing to the development of agriculture and rural areas of the whole country, striving to make Ninh Binh as one of the leading provinces in building new-style rural areas of the red river delta area.
