DPM receives Singaporean Deputy Minister of Home Affairs

The Vietnamese Government supports and facilitates strengthened cooperation between Viet Nam’s Ministry of Public Security and Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs.

Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh made that statement at his reception for Singaporean Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Pang KinKi-oong on April 23 in HaNoi.

 On behalf of the Vietnamese Government, the Deputy PM welcomed the Singaporean delegation to Viet Nam to attend the annual meeting at the deputy ministerial level and the fifth sports exchange between VietNam’s Ministry of Public Security and Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Vietnamese leader hailed the developments in the two nations’ relations, especially after establishing the Strategic Partnership in 2013, which is partially attributed by efforts of the two ministries.

The two agencieshavelauncheda number of cooperation activities such as high-level delegation exchanges and enforcement of law in combating and preventing crimes, fires and promoting search and rescue efforts,thus contributing to ensuring social order in each country as well aspeace and stability in the region, he added.

He proposed the two sides enhancecooperation and maintain delegation exchanges at all levels, especially among high-ranking officials, to share information on the regionand the world andreinforce their political trust.

In 2018, asSingapore takes take overthe rotating chairmanship of ASEAN, the Deputy PM suggested the two sides strengthen mutual consultancy to reach consensus in addressing issues of concerns.

Regarding prevention of crimes, the host asked the two sides to maintainbilateral cooperative mechanisms to exchange information and identify crimes related to both nations, especially ensuring aeronautical security and safety, struggling against high-tech, economic and drug-related crimes.

Mr.Pang KinKi-oongconsented with viewpoints and recommendations of Deputy PMBinh, expecting the two nations to enhance cooperation in all aspects to prevent theprinciplesof non-criminalization and legalization of drug use and accelerate education among community on consequences of drug.

ASEAN nations need to strengthen solidarity and join hands in addressing international and regional issues, he asserted.
